Practical answers about the firm, the work we take on, and what happens after a first conversation.

About Stratessence

What is Stratessence?
Stratessence is an independent strategy firm working on technology, institutions, industrial capability, capital, and geopolitical exposure. It was founded in New Delhi in 2009 and is led by Dipankar Sarkar.
Who is Dipankar Sarkar?
Dipankar Sarkar is a computer scientist, technology builder, and strategy practitioner. He founded Stratessence and created the MarineAware and IndiaStand research projects. His personal research is published at Dipankar.net.
Where does Stratessence work?
The firm is based in New Delhi and works internationally. The practical location, travel, confidentiality, procurement, and legal requirements are agreed for each engagement.

Advisory work

What questions does Stratessence advise on?
The firm advises on institutional strategy, technology and AI strategy, industrial and ecosystem strategy, and strategic diligence. The common concern is how an organisation builds and preserves the capability to act under technological and geopolitical change.
What does the client receive?
The answer depends on the question. It may include a short recommendation, a record of sources and assumptions, a map of important dependencies, a comparison of the available choices, or a workshop with the people responsible for the decision.
Does Stratessence implement technology systems?
Stratessence can examine technical architecture and work closely with engineering teams, but its role is strategic. Implementation or specialist assurance is separately scoped with the appropriate practitioners.

Boundaries

Is Stratessence an investment adviser?
No. Stratessence provides institutional and strategic analysis, not personalised investment advice or securities recommendations. Financial, legal, tax, and other regulated questions require the relevant qualified advisers.
How is Stratessence different from Esploro?
Stratessence advises institutions on strategic choices. Esploro undertakes investment research within its own disclosures and compliance boundary. Related sectors may be studied, but the outputs and purposes remain distinct.
Are MarineAware and IndiaStand client case studies?
No. They are public research projects created by Dipankar Sarkar. They can demonstrate methods and supply evidence, but they are not presented as consulting engagements or client outcomes.

Working together

How does the work begin?
The first conversation is about the decision, the deadline, the people involved, and the evidence already available. If Stratessence can help, we send a short proposal covering the question, what we will provide, timing, fees, confidentiality, and any conflicts.
Can the first step be small?
Yes. A short note, a review of key dependencies, or a leadership workshop may be enough to establish whether further work is justified.
How are evidence and uncertainty handled?
Important claims are tied to sources, dates, assumptions, missing evidence, and alternative explanations. Conclusions state what would change the view and where the evidence supports waiting or abstaining.
